Dealing with Creditors

legal

By Stephanie M. Keels, Esq.

It is not wise to ignore calls from creditors. It is better to take the call and try to negotiate a payment that you can realistically afford; even if the amount you can pay is minimal. If you fail to do so, the creditor can escalate the matter by filing a court action and attempting to garnish your wages or attach your bank account. If this happens, it can devastate your household and further worsen your financial situation because you have very little power about how much money is garnished or attached. NRS Chapter 31 addresses attachments and garnishments in Nevada. NRS 31.295 sets forth how much money can be garnished from one’s wages. Needless to say, the amount of money allowed to be garnished by law will probably be more than you can afford to pay. As such, it is best to address creditors head on.

Harvesting Joy

harvest

They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

Psalm 126:5-6 (KJV)

Why settle for happiness when you can have joy? Joy is a richer crop than happiness. No one is exempt from suffering, but not everyone knows how to use those tears as seed. If you are going to endure a thing, out last a season, rise above a circumstance, then you would be crazy to overlook a harvest or a reward for not giving up.  Galatians 6:9 reminds us that we will reap if we don’t faint.

Harvest is not automatic. Just because you have a season of tears or suffering doesn’t necessarily mean you get a harvest. Harvest must be contended for. It’s an intentional use of your seed. Seed must be put into the soil. God doesn’t waste anything and we shouldn’t either. Instead of growing bitter, angry, and introverted, put those tear-seeds into the ground. You do that by prayer, praise, and faith that something greater is coming.

God’s mathematics and divine manifestation has to do with multiplication. This is where you count it all joy.

Joy is like the checkbook of your life. When the enemy or life itself brings you to the places of pain, you seed those into your account. Sowing in tears is setting you up for God’s supernatural harvest.

“I may be crying now…but that’s a deposit into my joy account. I may have lost this battle…but that’s a deposit into my joy account.”

After you have outlasted that season…it’s time to harvest joy.

Blood Pressure

blood

When diagnosed with high blood pressure, most individuals are given strict orders to improve their diet and start exercising. When blood pressure is very high, the doctor may wish to start the patient on blood pressure-lowering medications. While eating healthy can help lower blood pressure over time, there are specific foods you can eat that will target high blood pressure and may quickly reverse the condition. Eating these foods will have the added benefit of aiding in weight loss, which in turn, will help lower blood pressure as well:

WHOLE GRAINS (oatmeal, oat bran muffins); LOW-FAT DAIRY (skim milk, fat-free yogurt); SPINACH (fresh, prepackaged or frozen); NUTS, SEEDS, & BEANS (edamame, soybeans, unsalted sunflower seeds); BANANAS (add to smoothies or to grain toast & peanut butter); BAKED POTATOES (use a little low-fat sour cream); DARK CHOCOLATE (small amount); SALMON (high in protein & vitamin D); GREEN TEA (high in antioxidants); AVOCADOS (high in antioxidants, B6, magnesium, folic acid)

Be a consistent sower!
In the natural we sow consistently, weekly or monthly to our Beauty Salon, Barber, Savings, Stocks, Mortgage Payment, consistently expecting a greater return than we put in.
It is the same in God’s Kingdom – If you sow continuously your harvest will become continuous.
Malachi 3:10
Bring all the tithes into the storehouse. That there may be food in My house. And try Me now in this, Says the Lord of hosts. If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.

Money Matters: July Edition

moneymatters

Disobedience produces losses:

Praise the Lord Saints – Last month we discussed the first principle of prosperity established in the Bible and that was WORK.

The second principle would be Diligence.

He who has a slack hand becomes poor, But the hand of the diligent makes rich. (Proverbs 10:4)

Laziness is one of the many reasons people do not experience Financial Harvest.

He who gathers in summer is a wise son. (Proverbs 10:5)

The diligent continuously evaluate the results of their efforts.

Be diligent to know the state of your flocks. (Proverbs 27:23)

The diligent will always have plenty!

The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing; But the soul of the diligent shall be rich. (Proverbs 13:4)

Health Tips for Seniors

seniors
By Tracy Byrd, Certified Fitness Coordinator, Coach, Trainer & 2x World Boxing Champion

This month MFM is honoring our Senior Eagles so how fitting to provide information on health & wellness geared specifically for older adults.

There are numerous types of activities that are beneficial for older adults:

Walking. Walking is by far the easiest and freest (natural & financial) activity to do.  After lacing up a good comfortable pair of walking shoes, begin walking 5-10 minutes, intermediate walkers 10-20 minutes and advanced walkers 20-30 minutes.  Based on your level of fitness, you can casually or briskly (power) walk.  Whenever walking keep your arms relaxed and your hands loose (never have a tight/clutched fist, it cuts off blood circulation). Your duration of cardio training should be no more than 30 minutes (depending on the state of fitness of each participant).

Senior sports or fitness classes (to include chair-bound persons).  Joining a fitness class or participating on your own in activities such as: Yoga, Pilates (breathing, strength, flexibility and balance to limber up and improve your range of motion), and Swimming/Water Aerobics, is great for older adults.

It is something about water that God has provided to sooth a person naturally as well as physically. Working out in water reduces stress and strain on the body’s joints and daily drinking water half your body weight in ounces (example: 140 pounds, 70 ounces of water per day) flushes out toxins in your body.

Talk to your doctor, physical therapist and look on line for healthy eating tips, pool-therapy programs, chair-bound exercise programs and fitness classes generally offered at community centers or senior living facilities.

Strength/Resistance (to include chair-bound persons). Utilizing weights for older adults is as easy as lifting anything that can fit in your hand, like canned foods or purchasing free weights (“dumbbell”) or resistance bands (similar to giant rubber bands designed to give your muscles a good workout when stretched and pulled).  You can attach resistance bands to furniture, doorknobs or a chair.  If you choose to participate in any type of strengthening program, it should be low to moderate intensity and high repetitions (example: lift a 3 pound weight – 10 times – 2 to 3 sets); your duration of strength training should be no more than 30 minutes (depending on the state of fitness of each participant).

These are just a few activities that older adults can begin doing.  With a physician’s consent and proper supervision, older adults can challenge themselves to more strenuous activity which provides greater fitness gain and more preventive benefits.  Once a person reaches the age of 50, the need for fitness is even more needed due to the many physiological changes that occur with age.

The old adage, “You are never too old to start,” is true!  With a physician’s input and careful considerations, older adults can and have maintained a healthy lifestyle.  So apply a little faith to the fitness and get started – “You can do all things through Christ which strengthens you.” (Phil 4:13).

God bless you.

God Moves for Those Who Wait

godmoves

God moves, or works on behalf of those that wait. He is the master architect and we are the creation. Our lives and the things that concern us are not left to chance. Oh no. God has a plan, we are part of that plan, and that plan is always working. The Master’s mind is the mastermind behind all of this! God’s thoughts or plans and the execution of those plans are not always privy to us. I will submit to you again, God will often require faith and obedience with limited information to us.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts Isaiah 55:8-9.

God will bring us to tight places and then tell us to wait. He will cause us to wait just to show us how incredible His plan is. Had we moved on our own behalf the results would not be the same. God loves us enough to make us wait.

Today God just wants you to know that He isn’t trying to frustrate your life.  He rather is looking to deliver, deposit, and exceed your expectations. While you are waiting IN God, He just wants you to know He is moving on your behalf. Get your hopes back up, God is up to something.
